ABOUT NORWEGIAN BIOART ARENA/ NOBA´S ART-SCIENCE RESIDENCY:

NOBA´s art-science residency has a process-based interdisciplinary focus, letting each artist experiment and try out new ideas without having the pressure of producing a finished work or exhibition. We aim to stimulate a wider exchange of critical and philosophical ideas, research, and artistic expressions, and to share those processes with the wider public, locally, nationally, and internationally.

Residents receive a Per Diem, a travel grant, self-catering accommodation on campus, access to a workspace, and introduction to our local network of artists, students, and scientists at Vitenparken, the Norwegian University of Life Sciences NMBU, Oslo, and beyond.

The artist is expected to produce a public event sharing their artistic process and research question(s) during the residency period in collaboration with and supported by NOBA´s staff. The event can take on any format (e.g. a workshop, an artist talk, a performance, a sound piece, etc).

Depending on each artist´s project, NOBA will facilitate and support the residency artist´s work processes in the best possible way. This will include:

– organizing meetings with scientists, students, and staff on campus related to each artist´s specific project and research topic
– facilitating experimental work processes, indoors and outdoors, including the possibility to work in laboratories on campus, experiment in our food lab or maker space, etc.
– set up other relevant meetings with artists, professionals, and institutions within our network
– facilitate public events for different groups of audiences, both children/ youth and adults, focussing on public dialogue and participation
– PR/ SoMe/ marketing and website presentation

ABOUT NORWEGIAN BIOART ARENA/ NOBA:

Norwegian BioArt Arena/NOBA is the foundation Vitenparken campus Ås´ Art Department and a platform where art and science can meet on equal terms. NOBA is the first venue in Norway dedicated to bio art. We aim to bring art, science, and audiences together through experimental formats, focussing on long-term interdisciplinary collaborations and the meeting of minds.

It is of great importance to us that the artists who are invited connect to the main topics of which NOBA and Vitenparken are concerned. At NOBA, we work on topics related to the food-, nature-, and climate crisis we are currently facing, at the intersection where art meets science.

You can read more about NOBA´s profile here: About NOBA

We are looking forward to your application!
